April’s Hot New Restaurant Openings - London

Cloth

The latest edition to London’s wine-bar scene, Cloth, is set to open towards the end of the month. Located on one of the survivors of the Great Fire of London, Cloth Fair in older London, the low ceilings and wood panelling create a moody experience. Adding to the cosiness, the white marble tables and long dark-wood banquettes are adorned with silver-service, antique crockery and warm candles - fitting for a classic bistro.

In contrast to the interiors, guests can expect modern on-trend seasonal menu celebrating the best of British ingredients with dishes such as black crab and Berkswell tagliarini, squid with black olives, or Somerset hogget with grilled cos lettuce, smoked tongue and anchovy.

Yasmin

Since opening in 2023, the new members club on the block, 1 Warwick, have seemingly finished refurbishing their Neo-Barogue Mansion in Soho and are ready to unveil their new rooftop restaurant and bar this month. With ‘panoramic views, good tunes and great vibes’ (quoted from their own website), members can enjoy signature cocktails, a thoughtful wine menu and Istanbul-inspired sharing plates from executive chef Tom Cenci.

July

A new addition to Charlotte Street opens later this month. July will be an Alsatian-themed restaurant and wine bar by Franco-German couple Solynka Dumas and Julian Oschman.

Former 40 Maltby Street chef Holly Haynes will be at the helm of the kitchen at July. Offering an all-day dining experience, guests can pop in for morning coffees and pastries followed by soups and sandwiches for lunch before dining late with seasonal small plates. Those craving a Saturday roast will be happy to feast on whole roast chicken with homemade mayonnaise and served with wines from small European producers.

Mimosa

Ever since launching in Paris in 2021, Mimosa has captivated guests with its warming interiors and summer dishes. Moma Group, led by founder Benjamin Patou, known for their grand presence in the French dining scene, will introduce Mimosa to The Langham Hotel this month. Perched up high above the iconic Oxford Circus with views of Nash’s All Souls Church and the BBC, the raised wood-panelled dinging room holds promise to be one of the most enticing spots in the city.

The new glitzy restaurant promises to transport diners to the sun-soaked Côte d’Azur with dishes such as grilled langoustines, salad Niçoise, and an array of oeufs mimosa - all set to grace the palate. The expansive 100-seat terrace, perviously part of the Wigmore pub’s al fresco dining space during the pandemic, is poised to become a summer sensation.

Los Mochis London City

One we’re most excited about, the Notting Hill hit, Los Mochis, is heading to the City this April. Elevated above Broadgate Circle on the 9th floor, Los Mochis in the City will be a much grander space than its parent in Notting Hill with a large panoramic rooftop terrace with a backdrop of breathtaking city views. In addition to the scenic rooftop, expect a vibrant main dining hall with a sushi bar, an intimate private dining room and a luxurious Agaveria bar and lounge.

Each area of Los Mochis is expected to have its own unique experience. The all-day dining menu on the terrace, for example will have an extensive menu complimented by an extensive cocktail menu with classic and inventive creations. The Agaveria Bar & Lounge is said to be a sophisticated haven for enthusiasts and connoisseurs of agave spirits with rate tequilas and mezcals.

The main restaurant is where Tokyo meets Tulum. The menu sees a blend of Mexican and Japanese cuisine with a sushi bar and robata grill. The chefs from their Notting Hill venture have developed the menu based of the success in that restaurant while adding exciting new dishes with seasonal and vibrant dishes.

Oma

Opening in mid-April on Bedale Street in Borough Market, Oma is set to be another restaurant fueling London’s love affair with Greek cuisine. David Carter, owener of Smokestak and Manteca in Soho, has taken inspiration from Greek’s plethora of islands with a seafood-focused menu. Expect a wood-fired grill and endless bread baskets!

Dishes are expected to include slow-grilled red mullet with red miso butter, lamb belly skewers with date molasses and lamb shoulder with green herb sauces. If you’re into sampling all the wines Greece has to offer, head down to Agora, the ground floor bar which will offer a 400-bin wine list.

ABC Kitchens

Originally making his name in London in the late Nineties, Alsace-born renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is making a comeback to Belgravia’s The Emory (from the Maybourne group) after a long stint in Manhattan.

The concept at The Emory is to bring together Vongerichten’s trio of acclaimed NYC restaurants - ABC Kitchen, ABCV, and ABC Cocina all under one roof. While this may not resonate with Londoners just yet, the fusion results in a menu blending farm-to-table, plant-based, and Latin-inspired cuisines. Notable dishes include crab toast with green chilli, crispy fish tacos with aioli and cabbage-apple slaw, and beef tenderloin with chimichurri and lime.

Opening in mid-April, the new restaurant’s interiors boast elegant features such as an amber-glass wine cave, scenic views of Hyde Park, and artwork by Damien Hirst. Given the exclusive nature of the restaurant, akin to the upscale all-suite hotel, it’s safe to say that those inquiring about prices may find it out of their budget.
